2026 ANNUAL MEETING: 11-13 MAY

A knowledge sharing system for greater development impact

Venue: The OPEC Fund for International Development - Parkring 8, A-1010 Vienna, Austria

CONTEXT FOR THE MEETING

  • Background:

Over the past couple of years, HIPSO has continued to strengthen as a platform that nurtures a culture of sharing knowledge and learning amongst its partners to include: impact management systems, market effects and more. Most importantly there is great value in comparing notes and trying to narrow down our differences and achieve better understanding of the common challenges that the DFIs are facing in impact measurement for private sector operations.

Also, there is a crucial need to have a platform for in-depth discussions among practitioners on innovative impact evaluation methods and techniques used to assess private sector operations. This would include sharing knowledge and experience in applying a variety of rigorous methodologies - traditional and new innovative, to assess projects from early stages (ex- ante), as well as to gather evidence and manage results throughout implementation and at completion to promote learning and accountability.

Given the context above, the objectives and expected outcomes of the event are:

  • Objectives of the meeting:

Exchange knowledge around topical issues in the development impact landscape to include: (i) project market effects; (ii) impact studies and analytics of private sector operations; (iii) impact/result reporting for example through corporate scorecards; (iv) job creation; and (v) and regarding the efforts made for increased rigor around ex-ante and ex-post results measurement.

  • Expected outcomes:
    • Common understanding of the trends and new developments in the impact landscape.
    • Sharing knowledge on impact studies and analytics of private sector operations.
    • Joint effort in addressing the topical issues outlined, through the HIPSO Work Streams
